The top model of the Titanium family will be called GeForce3 Ti 500, as we have already written here. This solution will be positioned as the most high-performance graphics card of those available in the today’s market targeted for the most enthusiastic users. GeForce3 Ti 500 architecture will differ from that of the regular GeForce3 just a very little bit: it will be only the nFiniteFX Engine that is going to be modified. It will acquire Shadow Buffers support, which will allow creating more realistic shadows and 3D textures. As for the graphics cards based on GeForce3 Ti 500, they are expected to be equipped with 64MB DDR SDRAM working at 500MHz. The core clocking will be also raised up to around 280MHz due to the improved manufacturing technology. This way, the performance of the new GeForce3 Ti 500 based solutions will be considerably higher than that of the regular GeForce3 based ones. However, the cost of the newcomer will also be appropriate: in the beginning the solution will be selling for about $400.
The medium model aka GeForce3 Ti 200 is none other but a slightly cheaper GeForce3 built on the same architecture as its elder GeForce3 Ti 500 brother, however working at somewhat lower frequencies, such as 175MHz core and 400MHz DDR SDRAM. At the same time, neither the memory bus width nor the number of pipelines are expected to be reduced. This way NVIDIA will split the GeForce3 family into Ti 500 and Ti 200 models just the same way they did with GeForce2 MX, which was split into MX 400 and MX 200 solutions. By the way, the first cards based on GeForce3 Ti 200 and equipped with 64MB DDR memory are expected to sell at around $250.
The third and the youngest model in the Titanium family, which is to replace the GeForce2 MX, will be GeForce2 Ti aimed at the very mainstream sector. The cards based on GeForce2 Ti will represent a certain symbiosis of the GeForce2 Pro and GeForce2 Ultra: 64MB graphics cards working at 250MHz core and 400MHz memory frequencies. The initial cost of the first cards based on GeForce2 Ti is awaited to rest around $150.
According to some preliminary data, GeForce3 Ti 200 and GeForce2 Ti should start shipping on September 17, while the upper GeForce3 Ti 500 model – on October 8.
